I would be a bit worried as you have a 2007, but it doesn't do any damage in the 3, just doesn't fully function. Only suits China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan built vehicles. You would also need the newer trim for the console to mount it. Please note this controller is NOT for Australian built vehicles. One issue the 3 series had was that the 2007 models had issues, but the 2008 model year supports the controller just fine.
